5 Reasons to Give a Winter Holiday a Try

It’s fair to say that nearly all of us at some point in our lives have thought about travelling in winter. For many years the stereotype has been that unless you’re into your extreme sports, cold winter destinations are a no-no. For those that have realised the potential of travelling during the winter, this stereotype is just another reason to act smug!
If you’re guilty of disregarding the prospect of a winter getaway, these five eye-opening reasons to make the plunge might just make you change your way of thinking…

SEE CITIES IN A WHOLE NEW LIGHT
That’s right, if you’ve only ever travelled during the busy summer months, the hustle and bustle is something you’re probably used to. But trust me; sipping an espresso with the locals in a quiet café in Italy during the winter is much more enjoyable than navigating the endless tour groups just to squeeze in a picture during the summer months!

HOLIDAY CHEER
Of course, how could we ignore the dazzling displays of holiday decorations and picturesque snow covered rooftops that winter blesses us with? Not to mention the wonderful Christmas markets that simply can’t be experienced in the warmer months.

EASIER AND MORE COST EFFICIENT
Bargain prices in the winter months make it much easier to plan last minute trips. Think about it, you could be visiting places you could have only dreamed of visiting before deciding on a winter break. Life’s too short to miss out!

BE ONE OF THE LOCALS
There is something intrinsically different about travelling during the winter. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s because you don’t automatically get bundled into the ‘I’m a tourist’ category by the locals. In some ways this can allow you to better immerse yourself into the culture. Who knows, you might even pick up a few new words along the way!

SKIING!
Before you rule this one out, it’s worth noting that not all ski holidays mean you have to throw yourself down a mountain at 100mph! Inntravel winter snow breaks offer something very different indeed. Whether you choose the grandeur of the Alps or the wild drama of Scandinavia or Finland, you will be astonished by the amount of things you can get up to. From tranquil unspoiled villages to larger areas with shops, spas, cafes and much more to be discovered.

You can fill your days skiing, winter walking, snowshoeing or simply relaxing. Discover the quiet side of the mountain, and give a winter holiday a try.
