Fairytale of Paris

Paris, the City of Light, is one of Europe’s great and beauteous capitals. With its romantic scenery, historical sites and many cafés and bistros, the city has something for everyone – it is far more than just a setting for a romantic couples’ getaway (though of course it’s that too). Once the art and fashion capital of the world, the legacy of these disciplines can be seen in the stunning architectural styles and the abundance of haute couture shops here.
The Eiffel Tower – You can’t go to Paris and not visit the Eiffel Tower. Completed in 1889 - originally as a temporary exhibit – the tower is 324 meters high and gives you great views of Paris and has become one of the most iconic buildings in the world. Take a ride to the top and enjoy a glass of champagne.

Disneyland Paris – A child’s dream destination, Disneyland Paris is the perfect place to take your children for a long weekend and stay in one of the Disney hotels there. This enchanting resort allows your children’s wildest dreams to come alive as they meet the many characters of their favorite Disney stories and films and feel they are playing a part in their very own fairytale. This is definitely a visit that won’t be forgotten.

Parks – Paris is also home to an array of beautiful parks including the Jardin des Tuileries and Jardin des Plantes, boith of which feature thousands of horticultural delights, just waiting to be seen and enjoyed. Although many of Paris’s parks are free to visit, some charge a small amount for entry, or for entering specific parts of the gardens, so check their websites beforehand.

Shopping – A veritable Shangri-la for fashion lovers, Paris is famous for its haute couture and the Fashion Weeks they host, which draw famous faces to the city annually. The shopping here is diverse, with Chanel and Dior in the Triangle d’Or and edgier, more youthful offerings in the Colette concept store in the Rue Saint-Honoré. No shopping trip here would be complete without a visit to the grand department stores such as Au Printemps, with its free fashion shows and the famous Galleries Lafayette, which houses up to 80,000 different labels across its many floors.

Museums and sightseeing – Dating back to 1793, Le Louvre is a historical artifact in itself, housing Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Be warned though – you’ll need far more than one day to get around it. The glass pyramid-shaped structure and water fountains in the vast main courtyard outside make an idyllic setting for a quiet lunch and a romantic place to relax and watch the world go by. Paris’ famous Notre-Dame Cathedral is another site that needs to be seen to be believed. The structure of this building is simply breath-taking - not the mention the beauty of the stained-glass window. Père-Lachaise cemetery is also worth visiting – a place of pilgrimage and the final resting places of Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison, Édith Piaf, Colette, Balzac and Apollinaire, among others.

I love Paris. Want to go back! Did you take the lovely illuminated riverside photo? Gorgeous shot if you did. :)

It is such a beautiful city! I can easily understand why they call it the city of love. :) Yes, I did take the riverside photo. I appreciate your comment! That means a lot to me.
