New York is arguably the most enthralling and entertaining city in the world. From Manhattan and Brooklyn to Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, each of the five boroughs has a plethora of attractions and activities to enjoy.
This will come as good news for fans of art, design and photography. Every corner of the city is bursting at the seams with beautiful buildings, beguiling galleries and picture perfect places of interest.

And if you manage to find enough hours in the day, it is just about conceivable to experience all of the following on a trip to the Big Apple. And remember, this is the city that never sleeps, making New York ripe for exploration even when the sun goes down.

Iconic sights

Even though world famous landmarks such as the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and Times Square have been photographed millions of times, they still need to be seen to be believed. In fact, it’s perhaps harder to take a bad picture of these prominent spectacles than a good one.

But in addition to New York’s most renowned monuments, other iconic imagery such as the big yellow taxis, are bound to look great on your camera roll.

Galleries and museums

Art aficionados will love what New York has in store, as numerous galleries and museums showcase some of the most important paintings and sculptures in history. A visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art is essential, as work from the European masters including Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh and Picasso are on show.

But if you prefer to gaze in wonderment at things like furnishings, glass and jewelry, pick up a Museum of Art and Design coupon and take a discounted trip to this excellent attraction in Manhattan.

Superb architecture

As far as cityscapes go, it doesn’t get much better than New York. Simply looking at this instantly recognizable skyline is enough to make your jaw drop, but certain buildings and structures require closer inspection too.

The Chrysler Building, which features detailed ornamentation and America eagle gargoyles, is a magnificent example of Art Deco. The marble walls and the arches of Grand Central Terminal are a sight to behold while the Guggenheim is one of the most ambitious architectural projects ever.

Green spaces

It’s easy to get swept up in New York’s artistic and architectural highlights, but sometimes Mother Nature provides the greatest satisfaction. Thankfully, the city has various green spaces where the trappings of modernity can be briefly forgotten about.

As you might have guessed, Central Park sits at the top of the list, as this 843-acre public space features seven bodies of water and lashings of lush greenery. Alternatively, take a wander around Brooklyn’s Prospect Park or the remarkable High Line, a 1.45-mile long linear park built on an elevated section of disused railroad.

In many respects, there aren’t many other destinations in the world that come close to New York’s, especially for travelers that love art, design and photography
