I know that my mindset and outlook on travel may be different, even potentially opposite of your own, but perhaps trying a new view may liven up your travels and your life experiences. No matter what way you prefer to travel, the way you choose your destinations can vary from scrutinized and meticulous planning to sporadic methods – and either way is okay. You may also prefer more traditional methods like hiring a travel agent or purchasing guidebooks to conduct your research with. I personally despise these methods, as I never wish to be told what to do or what to expect – I love the variety of organic experiences that I have.
Some people dream for years of where they wish to travel to. Others have no idea. And then there’s a rarer bunch who travel so often that they just spin a globe and by putting their finger on the sphere, they stop its motion and let fate choose their next destination. If you’re unsure of where to visit, then perhaps spontaneity is the best way to go about it. However, if that scares you, a bit of research can always do the trick. It’s often that when I’m choosing my next destination, it’s on a whim, last second, without much research. That works for me, because I have a goal of visiting the entire world before I pass off into the void. Sometimes I ask other traveler friends about a region to get their input, which works out well most of the time, because I learn about hidden gems and other wonderful places that I wasn’t aware of before. Other times, I simply look at a map and google the destination, whether it’s a sizable city or a rural area – and since a lot of what drives my travel choices is the physique of the place (as I’m always looking for great photography opportunities), my choices are easily done. But there’s also a part of me that believes that every part of the world is beautiful and wondrous in its own way. So, with that said, I will typically take my chances.

Like you, my son is quite the traveler, though unlike you he does this during his quarterly breaks. As parents, having traveled and raised our son in "strange" places.

that's honestly what we power our blog on. towards people who have a desire to travel, but don't even know where to begin. So, we try to make it easier for them by providing itineraries and stories, even places to eat.

When u get older you may be more driven by giving back rather than being a tourist. In November and January my travels to Nicaragua a revisit and Costa Rica are volunteer oriented. I don't have a huge bucket list and can't do the physical hiking etc stuff anyway. I want to feel that I left a piece of myself behind, a postive memory that hopefully some kid might have of me

That is a really good idea. I have often considered doing something like volunteer traveling. It is something that I may pursue in the future. What projects did you work on while you traveled?
