As of late, I have begun researching and planning out my itinerary for my upcoming USA Road Trip. The trip will start during the first week of March, where I will start from my hometown of Columbus, Ohio – from there I will head south through Bourbon country to Nashville to visit a few friends again, before I travel east through the Old Smokey Mountains to the Atlantic coast. Afterwards, south I go, through Georgia and Florida, all of the way down to the Florida Keys, before heading north where I’ll follow along the Gulf of Mexico. It will likely take me a few weeks to comfortably make my way to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but spring should be in full swing by the end of March, and the weather should be nothing short of pure splendor. Then, as I continue west through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, summer will be beginning to kick off its festivities.
Planning a massive road trip like this across a country as big as the United States of America is difficult and strenuous to say the least, and while I know I won’t be able to see everything that I wish I could, there are definitely a lot of must see attractions along the way, and one of the destinations that I’m particularly curious about is the area along the coast from Florida to New Orleans, where the beaches, bayous, and fishing charter opportunities are seemingly endless. While I grew up living on a lake in Ohio, I never really became fascinated enough in fishing to call it a passionate hobby, however, I think I’ll make an exception while I’m around Mississippi and Louisiana. There’s just something about fishing in the Gulf that peaks my interest – or maybe it’s just a silly romanticized dream sequence playing inside my head, but I picture it being pretty exciting and intense – what do you think?
I know the Smokey Mountains won’t disappoint, and I believe driving along the Florida Keys for a weekend will be one of the highlights, but other than that, I’m not really sure what all is a mustn’t miss through these regions. However, I can’t say that I’m not TOTALLY stoked to visit Miami, New Orleans, and Austin for the first time ever! Of all of the places you can think of in the USA that are full of the most fun things to do, along with some of the more youth-based attractions, I think those three cities have to be on that top ten list.
Anyway, I realize this is rather whimsical and random, but sometimes simply writing out my thoughts helps to clear up discrepancies… If you know of any interesting places, must see attractions, or beautiful natural areas that I can perhaps photograph, please feel free to comment below – I would love your input!
