Quiet resorts in Majorca

Majorca holidays are renowned for many things. Glorious beaches, lively towns and plenty of local attractions. After all, as a popular holiday island, Majorca certainly knows how to keep visitors entertained - one trip to lively Alcudia or non-stop Palma Nova and you'll soon get the idea. You'll find a great selection of resorts and a range of Majorca Holidays through tour operators like Thomas Cook.
But sometimes you just want to slope off to a quiet corner and escape the hustle and bustle in favour of a more authentic experience. And, as you'll see, there are plenty of wonderful little towns and villages that are happy to oblige, and can offer a completely different view of Majorca holidays. Check out some of our favourite retreats, here:

Calas de Mallorca
Based on the east coast, Calas de Mallorca is a lovely little spot with pleasant sandy bays fringed by rocky outcrops, lapped by gently shelving shores. There are three beaches in total, offering a handful of activities like water sports and boat trips, and the resort itself has a smattering of pubs and low-key bars. In essence though, holidays here are all about taking it easy, and it's a great place to kick back and relax away from the hustle and bustle of other livelier resorts.

Ca'n Picafort
Home to a cracking horseshoe-shaped beach, Ca'n Picafort is the place to be for long lazy days under the sun, catching up on the latest bestseller or building sandcastles with the kids. The resort was once a small fishing village and has grown over the years into an established beach resort, with a working harbour and a handful of restaurants and bars, many of which are authentic joints serving local cuisine and specialities.

Santa Margalida
Here's something a bit different from the norm. The lovely town of Santa Margalida is based away from the coast, a few miles inland from the coastal resort of Ca'n Picafort. It's a great springboard to explore the island and offers an appealing 'get away from it' all escape in rural surroundings with a distinctive Spanish charm. There's an impressive Gothic church, a pleasant square and a smattering of shops and bars. It's off the beaten tourist trail so dig out your Spanish phrasebook, charge your camera and be prepared to experience a unique and thoroughly unforgettable side of Majorca.
