Mexico is a beautiful tourist destination and it's certainly worth visiting, however, there are areas that you should avoid in order to maintain your safety. In fact, the Mexican government warns travelers about visiting certain places due to the fact of possible criminal activity. With the media constantly reporting about new dangers, many tourists choose to stay away from the country, which doesn't have to be your decision. There are many different areas that are safe and fun for the whole family, and with the help of these tips you can feel more comfortable with your travel plans!
In order to get the most out of your time in Mexico, be sure to visit Discountrue beforehand and look for Hotels.com coupons that will help you with the prices of transportation, accommodation or different attractions.

Country Safety Standards
As with anywhere in the world it is important to note that different countries may not have the same laws and rules as North America. This is particularly important to remember if you are a parent traveling with young kids, as during your time in Mexico, you will also be responsible for the safety of your children. Sidewalks may not be accessible from every street, safety equipment at attractions may not be what you’re used to, and guard rails may not be present where you would expect them to be. It is important to look out for these countrywide safety concerns.

Do the Research
It is essential that you do enough research to know where you’re headed. Take the time to look through past traveler’s reviews of different accommodations, think about destinations that have been approved by the United States State Department, and find a city or resort in Mexico that you feel comfortable with. If you have any more concerns, consider asking friends or family members about resorts that they have visited recently and could possibly recommend.

Stay on the Resort
Any travel agent or government official will tell you that the safest place for you to be while you’re on vacation in Mexico is a resort of your choosing. They generally have guards that only allow people who are staying there to enter the property. Most of the resorts in Mexico help to make sure that all of the activities that you would want to do are available without having to go into the overly populated cities. It’s also much more convenient to be able to access a variety of entertainment opportunities right outside the door to your hotel. What's more, you can also find shuttles that take you directly from the hotel to the airport through safe routes.
