Do you want more from your summer holiday than just stretching out on the beach? At Parkdean’s Ruda caravan park near the beautiful Croyde Bay in Devon, you’ll have a fantastic beach right on your doorstep that also happens to offer some of the best surfing in the country – perfect for couples that like to stay active during their getaways, or just want to try something new! In fact, Croyde Bay is so well-known for its swells that it attracts surfers from all over Britain, and even Europe, to carve up its waves and tackle the barrels. The waves here are big and clean, plus its southerly location means the waters are warmer here than in many other popular spots in Britain – so although you’ll still need a wetsuit, you’ll enjoy every moment that you’re in the water! The beach also offers magnificent views, typical of the entire Devon coastline, so there couldn’t be a more picturesque place for you to sharpen your surfing skills, or step onto a board for the first time. What’s more, there’s a packed calendar of events that take place each year at Croyde Bay, including the Gold Coast Oceanfest, an ultra-cool festival of surfing and music that attracts thousands of revelers to the beach every June. You’ll be in a prime position to enjoy this festival at the Ruda park, which is just a short stroll from the beach, so why not make the Gold Coast Oceanfest part of next year’s break? However, for those days when you want to take a break from surfing, Croyde Bay also makes a great starting point for walks around the Devon coastline. Head out to Baggy Point to take in the magnificent views, stopping on your way back for some home-cooked food in Croyde village, as well as a well-earned pint or two. Of course, you could also just stay home and bask in the comforts of your accommodation at the Parkdean holiday park in Ruda. With caravans, lodges and apartments to choose from, you really can create the perfect holiday. Just don’t forget your swimsuits!
