The perfect briefcase is both a (fashion) statement as well as an assistant. My briefcase assists me in my look and in first impressions, just as much as it helps with organization and safe keeping of my creative works. So finding the right bag is something of an art.
Aesthetically, I prefer leather bags, specifically leathers that have character and marks of the animal that gave its hide for me. On top of that, I look for leathers that have been sourced from animals that had already died, naturally, and not used and abused for the simple creation of a bag. I am a hippie at heart and feel about animals as I feel about Nature; we must treat them both with respect and act in a way that protects, rather than destroys.
For me, I like to have the perfect writer’s briefcase; one that goes with any number of outfits, down dressing, and is capable of carrying all of the items listed above. Then, I like to have a briefcase ready for more traditional business trips; something slim and black, so it goes with everything and is easy to travel. Beyond that, I try to make use of my other luggage cases/rucksacks, because how many bags is truly too many for one person. ;-)
If you’re looking for a quality briefcase, the fine folks over at LederMann Leather carry a wide range of quality business luggage. I travel with one of their bags: TheCultured Laptop bag
