There are folks out there who travel a different way than I do. They may pick their location for certain reasons, and where they stay and what they do is often based on different desires. I prefer to experience Nature, or if I’m touring civilization, I tend to walk the streets and stay with the locals, and really dig into the culture. But there is a large segment of people who don’t travel this way. And that’s okay!
I prefer seeing the natural beauty in the world, while others prefer to travel for different reasons. They both can exist and are not mutually exclusive to one another. If you are a hotel traveler, who has never even heard of a rucksack, then travel fashion may be right up your alley. ‘Travel fashion,’ you say? Why, yes. There is a huge market all around the world for travelers who want to look good, feel good, and even feel like they’re at home when they’re abroad. I mean, how else do you label the option of staying with a major hotel chain that produces hotels in Tokyo, the same as they are in the States? The reason that has never been my thing is simply because if I’m going to travel across the globe, I want a new and different experience.
However, there is an exception to this style of fashion and travel, and it is when companies produce a product or experience that transcends the normalities of your home culture, and reinvents the way you look at new experiences. Have you ever thought about camping in a different country with a flashy, designer tent? I may sour at this idea, but as I said, there’s an entire market built around this new approach to travel. If your thing is visiting dance clubs and the night life of a new destination, why not dress wild and fashionable?
I believe that is where Dr. Martens comes into play, at least with their highly fashionable and a bit wild and eccentric boot, the Pascal Stingrays. These boots are made with leather and rubber, and finished with a foil finish to replicate the vibrant sheen of fish scales. May sound strange, but they are pretty cool looking. And so when I tried out a pair of these bad boys, how else could I incorporate this flashy style into travel? These boots aren’t for the timid, but they also have their place in the world. Wearing these boots might serve you fine, physically, in the wilderness, but fashionably, they might attract more attention than you want. But if you are a different sort of traveler than I, then these boots might be exactly what you want.
So for my traditional readers, I hope you can entertain the idea of high end, fashionable travel. Because it exists.
A few thoughts on the UK-made Dr. Martens boot… Their boots are built strong and with a more workman style. The rubber tread is strong and deep, providing solid traction, and the leather build of the shoe is thick and can provide you with good protection and support. As for the look and feel, they are unique in that regard, and certain folks may not like this particular look, but for mixed travelers, who bounce from the outdoors then off to the city, these might be right up your alley. If the look isn’t your thing, and while I can understand completely, as the Pascal Stingrays are quite loud, I wouldn’t count out the brand.
