Blue Bay
Blue Bay is considered to be one of the best beaches on the Island of Mauritius. Its powder soft sand is perfect for relaxing in the sun, and its crystal clear waters are ideal for snorkelling. There are trees close to the beach that provide shade if the sun gets too much, and locals selling food and drinks close by if you fancy a snack.
Flic en Flac
Flic en Flac beach can be found on the west coast of Mauritius. This picturesque beach is the longest beach on the island. Flic en Flac is perfect for beach walks where you are likely to find corals, sea urchins and shells. You can lounge on the sand, swim in the sea, or try some water sports. There is even a lagoon that you can swim in.
Tamarin
Tamarin is close to Flic en Flac. It has soft sand that has a few small stones, but nothing that would make you uncomfortable. As the bay isn’t protected by a reef, the sea is slightly rougher, making it ideal for surfing. This is a great beach during the day, but it is also popular at night. People tent to arrive in the evening to set up campfires.
Roche Noires
This beach is a slice of paradise, located on the north-eastern coast of Mauritius. Back volcanic rocks contrast the pure white sand. The water here is calm making it safe and suitable for swimming. This is another beach that has a long stretch of sand ideal for sunbathing and walks. If the walking and swimming has left you with an appetite, there are a number of restaurants nearby where you can sample some delicious Mauritius cuisine.
Gris Gris
Gris Gris is located in the most southerly point of the island near the town of Souillac. This destination has everything you would want from a beach holiday. As well as astoundingly beautiful beaches, there are cliffs that provide an amazing view of the horizon. You need to descend steps from the top of the cliffs to get to the beach. The beach itself is normally quiet and secluded. There are no reefs protecting the coast from the Indian Ocean, but it creates some dramatic and impressive waves.
