London is one of the most visited places on earth, so it is no surprise that anyone visiting here can become a little overwhelmed with deciding what see or do first. There is so much ancient history hidden here to discover, plus lots of special events happening all year round, so no matter when you decide to visit the capital, you will never be bored or short of things to do!
Here are five fun things to do while visiting London, some that are free and some that are very cheap, so you don't have to blow your budget on your first day to have a wonderful time.

Top tip: Before you start to explore the city, get a London City Pass that gives you free or discounted entry at a lot of London venues, including St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, Madame Tussaud's, or take a free boat ride on the Thames.

1: Hyde Park

Famous for the Speaker's Corner, and known for hosting many significant political protests and demonstrations over the years, there are many speakers and performance artists to enjoy each week. Go paddle-boating with the kids and enjoy a family picnic or a cool ice-cream on a warm day.

2: Camden Market

Known for it's diverse and alternative culture, join the crowds of punks, goths and Teddy Boys as they mill around and mingle with tourists from across the world amongst over 700 independent traders. There is plenty of street food on offer, plus lots of live entertainers to amuse the crowds.

3: Plonk! Camden Market

While you are visiting Camden Market for it's rich vibe, why not enjoy a game of crazy-golf at Plonk! You may have played mini-golf before, but this 9-hole course comes fully decked out with UV lights, camouflage and smoke! In fact, why not drop in for a game at one of the other Plonk Golf attractions across the city while you are here.

4: The London Eye

What is a trip to London without taking a spin on the iconic London Eye. Giving unrivalled views across the London skyline, you need to remember to take some photographs to capture the scene.

5: Take a Thames Cruise

There would be no London without the influence the River Thames had on forming the city since pre-history. Take a trip on England's longest river and what is the true centre of the city. Cruises are operated as often as every 30 minutes by a number of cruise operators at key points along the river. You can get to see some of the most iconic of London buildings from the river.
