If photography is your hobby, then you may be looking for the best place to get a good shot wherever you go on a trip. When you visit New York, there are many places to get a great shot from above the crowd. Here are seven places you’ll find a great bird’s eye view in the Big Apple.
Empire State Building
The most iconic building in New York has always been a good place to get a bird's eye view of Manhattan. The Empire State Building stands at 1,454-feet and has two observatories, one on the 86th floor and the other on the 102nd floor. These observatories offer the highest vantage points in the city.

Roosevelt Island Tram
The New York Times calls it “the most exciting view in New York City,” which is saying something in a city of skyscrapers. The tram goes from midtown Manhattan to Roosevelt Island, which sits in the middle of the East River.
It’s the only commuter aerial tram in North America, and offers great views of the city during the day and at night.

Top of the Rock
Located at Rockefeller Center, the Top of the Rock has 360-degree views of Manhattan. Along with going to the observation deck on the 70th floor, you can buy tickets that include a tour of "30 Rock." There are two other observation decks that overlook "the city that never sleeps."

Tour Bus Vista
A good way to get to know the city quickly is on a guided tour. One of the best ways to see Manhattan is with the Topview Sightseeing double-decker bus tours. They allow passengers views above the crowds and hop-on, hop-off access to anywhere in the city you wish to go.

Brooklyn Bridge Walkway
The Brooklyn Bridge offers great views of the city for drivers, cyclists, and walkers. If you want a postcard view of the city, then begin in Brooklyn and take the walkway towards lower Manhattan. Not only does the walkway offer a fabulous view, but it doesn’t cost anything to enjoy.

The High Bridge
The oldest bridge in New York is the High Bridge that connects the Bronx with the Washington Heights neighborhood. It was originally opened in 1848, but was closed to traffic in the 1970s. It finally reopened to walkers and bicyclists in 2015. There is no charge to walk or ride a bike on the bridge.

Belvedere Castle
While it isn’t the highest vista in NYC, it is probably the most magical. The view from Belvedere Castle, a fanciful structure in Central Park, looks out over Turtle Pond, the Rambles, and the Great Lawn from the castle’s two balconies. Enjoy another great view at no charge.

There are many great things to do and places to see in New York, but if you’re looking for places to take great pictures, try these seven locations. Along with getting great shots, you will be in the middle of the action in Manhattan when you visit most of these sites.
