An Herbalist’s Outlook: featuring Ginseng-Premium’s Korean Red Ginseng

As I grow older, my mind expands and my understanding evolves. When I was in my late teens and early 20s, I ate whatever I wanted, drank more than I probably should have, and I didn’t care what would happen. I felt invincible. My, oh my, how time changes things. As time went on, I began to grow suspicious of the food I often ate, realizing that processed foods are indeed bad for me, and with research I came to understand that whole organic foods are the right way to go. Next, my understanding grew to understand the medical field and how pharmaceuticals were doing more damage than good. And then…

I dug deeper, and spent years reading feverishly, coming to a conclusion on what I felt was real in this world, what was important, I came to understand my feelings about god, religion, politics, and after much searching I found my way to a family and a place where I belonged. No longer confused about reality and searching for truth. But what stuck with me was one simple message: We are all connected to the natural world and we rely on it to survive. So the further that we get from Nature, the sicker we’re becoming.

So I’ve decided to live my life more naturally, in all ways, and I’ve dedicated much of my time over the past few years to the study and practice of herbal remedies, or plant-based medicines. I married into a family of herbalists and have grown tremendously in my understanding of botany, the workings of the body, and have a firm grasp on how to treat many health-related problems. Throughout my studies, I tend to focus on one plant per week in my studies, to ensure I solidify my understandings, because each medicinal plant in the world (and there are thousands) has its own benefits, uses, side effects and applications for healing us humans.

One of the most versatile and powerful plants is Ginseng. There are many varieties like Korean Red, Korean Black, Siberian Ginseng and one that grows wild here in the United States, American Ginseng. Each of these ginsengs have differing benefits, but they are all very similar. I recently had the pleasure to team up with Premium-Ginseng.com and they sent me their Korean Red Ginseng Extract Gold, and so I tested it for a month and noticed my mind becoming clearer, more aware, and as if my energy levels were restored to 100% after a long time of floundering somewhere near 60-70% most days.

The health benefits of Korean Red Ginseng vary from person to person, because with herbal medicines, everyone reacts differently. Typically though, plants are much gentler than pharmaceuticals and can offer a myriad of benefits. Red Ginseng has been known to help the body fight off stress, boost immune system function, lower blood sugar, clear the mind and improve concentration, fend off fatigue and improve the effects of erectile dysfunction in men. I noticed most the clearer head then longer periods of energy, which both helped me in my writing and in my herbalism work, then I noticed that overall I just felt better. But that’s me, not a health claim for anybody, so if you think you could benefit from ginseng, give it a try. It’s been one of the most popular medicinal plants for thousands of years for a reason. If you have high blood pressure or other health complications, or are on pharmaceutical drugs, consult a health professional before using any ginseng, as there can be some important contraindications.
