When traveling the world, anything can happen to you. Believe me, I should know. I’ve been through a brutal respiratory infection in Spain, something worse than the flu in Ireland, I’ve been robbed a couple of times, I’ve been lost, I’ve been stranded, and I’ve been scared. Yet, I’ve found beauty in the world like I never knew existed prior, from the vibrant and versatile cultures to the most phantasmagorical scenery in the natural world. So no matter what negatives may befall you, you must keep on keepin’ on, and never let the possibilities of what might happen stop you… because without travel and curiosity for new experiences, what is life but a stagnant nothingness on repeat?

For a long time in the US, misinformation campaigns had everyone believing that cannabis was a harmful, dangerous and life-destroying drug. But with the invention of the internet, times are changing and propaganda campaigns are no longer effective at altering the minds of the many. And as people wake up all across the country to the truth about the plant, full on legalization and steps headed in that direction are beginning to take shape in several states. With new thinking comes new policies, and with legalization comes the ability to finally fully test and research what we’ve been disallowed to do… And with that change welcomes new and exciting innovations, inventions and approaches to use, which includes medicinal healing and recreational toys.

The world is changing, and I, for one, am stoked to see where it goes. While some of the more negative forces in our world are trying their damnedest to maintain their grip of influence and culture, many voices are screaming into the abyss to be heard, and we’re starting to see the wheels begin to turn. I lived in Colorado a year or two after legalization and I witnessed a heartwarming change in culture. Where criminal drug arrests and DUIs were once much more frequent, peace had began to form and improvements began to take shape in schools and with infrastructure, all because of the taxes generated.

No longer are we destroying the lives of medicinal cannabis users; no longer is the US asleep while corrupt interests manipulate the truth. With the invention of the internet, the truth has come out about cannabis, about its medical properties, about its low risk consumption, and about what the drug war was really intended for. With new minds comes new visions, and the new vision for the country is beginning to take shape, in not only the drug war but in all areas of civic rights and imbalances. We’re seeing new minds respond to violence differently, to racial rights, women’s rights, and gender rights, to financial inequality as well, and that started with the shift of cannabis, because with the first legalization came the first proof that new minds are stemming the flow and changing the direction of our world.

Review: the Lodge Shirt by Pendleton Woolen Mills

Pendleton Woolen Mills is a famous American brand that’s more famous for its wool blankets than perhaps its clothing, and while their woolen blankets rightfully deserve the attention, Pendleton’s shirts and other clothing are equally well deserving. While the blankets can keep out the bite of a chilly night while camping, it’s the Lodge Shirt that I’ve found that is a lifesaver for chillier weather. The Lodge shirt is made from Umatilla wool, sourced from Oregon ranchers and woven in the states.

Pendleton Woolen Mills is a cut above the rest when it comes to outdoor and winter wear, but that’s not all they make. For women, Pendleton makes sweaters and jackets, coats and blazers, blouses and shirts, dresses, knits, pants, skirts, vests, and shawls, as well as shoes, boots, slippers, socks and other accessories like hats, scarves, belts, gloves, and jewelry. For men, they make wool and cotton shirts, polos, sweaters, hoodies, pants, jackets and coats and vests, as well as hats, socks, gloves, jewelry, shoes and boots, too.

On top of that, Pendleton has a lot of designer options for the home, including bedding, sheets, throw pillows, bath towels, robes, dining wear and other decor, as well as a range of National Park themed goodies that are sure to make any nature lover (like myself) say ‘I want that.’

I am in the midst of planning my first (and only) wedding. It’s a big deal, and it’s a whole lot of work. But I can’t freaking wait until the day comes, where I can spend a day surrounded by my favorite people while I make a commitment to my significant other that will bind us together forevermore. It’s a beautiful thing, and yet, I’m also excited to see it come to an end, because planning your own wedding isn’t for the faint of heart. As I complete one task, three more seem to miraculously show up on my to-do list; it’s amazing. But I am managing with the help of my future wife, so I am grateful for that.

Reaching Beard Glory with Beardsley

3/28/2018

Beard growing is an art, I’ve come to realize, and while I’ve always thought righteous beards were strikingly manly, I had up until recently always failed at it. It’s not easy because it takes a lot of time and patience, and the right sort of approach; oh, and even then you can still fail if you have uneven growth patterns. When I was in my early twenties, I would let my facial hair go and it would become this wild, uneven monster that sadly looked more like a series of smudges than a glorious beard, but now that I’m in my thirties it’s had enough time to develop; all except for one evil little spot on my cheek that refused to grow in as full as the rest. Maybe I’m the only one that notices it, but I doubt it. And seeing as how my wedding is in a couple of months, I knew I needed to put in some work so I reached out to Beardsley for help.
