When you’re trekking the great outdoors, you never know what can happen. You could find yourself stranded in the middle of nowhere, with no sense of where you ought to go. You might stumble across a baby bear and her protective mother. Or perhaps Mother Nature turns and you’re caught in a heavy storm with wild winds and a severe temperature change. It happens. Or you may very well injure yourself, rendering you near incapable of returning to civilization. Anything can happen when you’re in the wild, so it’s important that you think of every possibility before you venture off.

Being Prepared for Anything Can Save Your Road Trip from Ending Prematurely: Reviewing Air Compressors by SuperFlow

A few years ago, I traveled nearly 20,000 miles in less than four months by road tripping around the USA. I had the pleasure of visiting 23 of states, touring clockwise around the country, and it was the time of my life. Besides spending nine months in Europe the previous year, this trip was one to be remembered forever. And yet, it ended prematurely. If it were not for serious transmission issues, my trip would have ended two months later, after visiting another eight states and a one to two week stint traveling from Vancouver to Banff, Canada. While I couldn’t have predicted or prepared for transmission failure, I could have been better prepared in other areas of my trip.

Review: The Precision Press Titanium Pen by Tuff Writer

For any writer, or travel writer especially, having a quality pen that can withstand the years of use and the elements can be as important as any item on any gear list. I write more on a computer these days, mainly when I’m working in the revision stage, but there’s an intimacy, a simplicity, and beauty in writing drafts by hand. How easily those initial ideas flow onto the page can have a major affect on how one continues through the thought process. I’ve had countless experiences of writing with pen on page where I am forced to stop to find a new pen. What this does is slow down the flow process, where at one point you’re mind was flowing with a deep vision in mind and a rush of creative ideas, only to come to a screeching halt because of a technical issue. It’s something worth avoiding as a professional writer, because there are times when the words come flowing out and times when the words come sluggishly, and it’s your job to make it as easy as possible on yourself.

Working remotely is one of the greatest benefits of digital technology. So long as there's a wifi connection, it allows us to work from anywhere in the world. Given the choice, most of us would rather spend our mornings on a beach instead of the daily commute. More and more, we're picking up and leaving the places we live, selling our cars, barbecues, and all the cumbersome consumer items we've accumulated, and setting out into the world with just a backpack containing a few essentials and our laptops.

Few things say summer like hopping in the car, cranking up some tunes, and heading out on the road, top down or windows open, to check out the beauty that is a road trip across America.
