Bali’s hidden gourmet gems

As far as paradise destinations go, Bali pretty much has it covered. It appears that there is no end to the appeal of this tropical heaven. Yes, there are palm-fringed beaches aplenty, as well as mysterious temples, sumptuous seascapes and traditional villages to explore, but there’s also mud baths, surfing, a great nightlife and superb dining experiences on offer, not to mention Balinese massages which are simply to die for.
If you’re heading to Bali this year, you will have undoubtedly already begun reading up on where’s good to stay, shop, eat and visit. We’re here to let you in on a few of Bali’s lesser-known treasures – places that are off the beaten track. .  

Sakti Dining Room, Mambal
It’s well worth heading to the Five Elements Resort in Mambal to discover the exceptionally delicious, raw, vegan food. This organic restaurant will swiftly become a favourite for even the heartiest of meat eaters.

Potato Head, Seminyak

A beach club with a difference, whether you are looking for French-Japanese fine dining, or pool side cocktails and banging tunes, you have come to the right place. Don't forget to check out the incredible South East Asian-style tapas dishes.

Seniman Coffee Studio, Ubud

With a wonderful range of organic Indonesian coffee blends, this boutique studio is bound to impress. Celebrating the art of crafting the perfect coffee, there is a great vibe here which everyone will enjoy.

Mozaic Beach Club, Seminyak

Located on Batubelig beach, this club will give you some amazing fine dining experiences in its Ubud restaurant. Choose between the formal dining room and the poolside setting, and enjoy a sumptuous feast with a view of the ocean.

Chiringuito El Kabron, Pecatu

The views from El Kabron have to be seen to be believed. Enjoy a stunning vista of Bali, high up on the Bukit Peninsula's limestone cliffs, whilst enjoying Ibiza-style tunes.

Bali Asli, Gelumpang Village Amlapura Karangasem

This restaurant is located at the foot of Mount Agung and is surrounded by tranquil rice fields and the open countryside. Find out more about Balinese culture and enjoy a range of delicious Balinese delicacies.

Petitenget, Seminyak
A Mediterranean restaurant and bar, this venue is found in a great location in the trendy district of Petitenget, or Eat Street as it is also known.

Nammos Beach Club, Ungasan
If you are looking for emerald seas and dazzling sand, then this is a hidden treasure you must uncover! Although it is a bit of a mission to reach, you can reward yourself with cocktails and gourmet food on arrival.

La Plancha, Seminyak

This is a funky and unusual beach shack, complete with glass lamps, old furniture, cocktails and seafood tapas. Regular Friday night events manned by DJs kick off the weekend, and live acoustic sets at sundown keep the mood going all weekend long.

Sari Organik Bodag Maliah, Ubud

Here you will find both healthy elixirs and organic food in a bamboo pavilion set in a sea of rice paddies - the perfect Balinese setting.
