For years, the US had outlawed and looked down on anything to do with cannabis, or marijuana, and while many thought even the briefest mention of this healing plant was criminal, times have changed. Since the advent of the internet, the truth about cannabis has come out, and the masses are realizing its healing properties*. With new knowledge comes new thinking, and with new minds comes a new vision for the future. And CBD is the start of that future, especially considering it’s now legal in all 50 states… Finally.

For those who are new to the subject… The cannabis plant is made up of male and female plants, with each offering their own attributes. The female, and most notorious, is the one that produces the flowers, which are known as marijuana. The female flowers are the ones that produce THC, the compound or cannabinol that makes you feel ‘high.’ The male plant does not produce flowers, but is responsible for creating seeds and is the producer of hemp. Within the male plant is a range of cannabinoids that have been proven to assist in a myriad of medicinal applications, like for sleep, eating disorders, seizures and more, which I will get into further in the next paragraph. Of these cannabinoids, CBD is extracted and can be used as a topical treatment, ingested as an oil or a tincture, and can be made in food or vaped, depending on one’s personal preference.

CBD is the non-psychotropic cannabinoid found in hemp, which has been found to have inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, as well as sedating, hypnotic, anti-epileptic and anti-dystonic effects, among other healing attributes. CBD does not ‘get you high,’ as they say, but it will relax you, soothe pain, help regulate sleep patterns, control certain cancers, stimulates bone growth, and stops the growth of bacteria, as well as it suppresses muscle spasms and convulsions, slows inflammation, reduces blood sugar levels, reduces the risk of artery obstructions, decreases pressure in the blood vessel walls, helps control epileptic seizures, reduces risk of nerve damage, and eases nausea.

I recently reached out to Endoca to test their CBD formula, and they were kind enough to send over their Hemp oil which contains 15% CBD in their 10ml bottle, a total of 1500mg of CBD, and their 99% Pure CBD Crystals, a total of 500mg of CBD. The typical recommended dosage is 25mg per day, which totally depends on the person, the desired effects, and the ailments one wishes to treat. For me, I suffer from insomnia at times, from stress wear, and anxiety, and I found some relief with the help of CBD. So, for the past month, I’ve trailed Endoca’s CBD oil and I made some healing icy-hot salves with their pure CBD crystals, and found them both to work great.

The 15% CBD oil comes with a dropper, and each drop is about 5mg of CBD, so for the daily 25mg, I take five drops in the morning. But on tougher days, I up the dosage, as CBD has little to no negative effects, at least none that I felt personally; so if I’m feeling extra stressed or anxious, then I take another dose, typically ranging from 5mg to 40mg, depending on how I’m feeling. The taste of the oil is strong, earthy, grass-like, and tends to stick around for awhile, and although it’s not the best taste in the world, it’s not awful by any means.

The crystals were a lot of fun to work with, as they melt easily into butter, and can be used in food or in topical applications, so as I mentioned above, I made a salve, combining: Shea butter, beeswax, coconut oil, other carrier oils, essential oils, and the CBD crystals. I melted everything together in a double-boiler before pouring them into individual tins to setup. I applied the salve to my aching muscles and the pains that I regularly deal with in my neck and back, and I have to say that the effect was immediate as it helps me sleep and feel relaxed while easing pain. All in all, I came away very impressed with the quality of Endoca’s product.
