For years, anything to do with cannabis (or marijuana), had been outlawed, looked down on, and thought to be criminal by many, even the very mention of the plant was shunned. Thankfully, since the invention of the internet, saner heads have prevailed, clearing up the truth and laying waste to the propaganda and smear campaigns that have misinformed millions around the world. And perhaps no country has been affected more so than in the USA. Where it was once thought that cannabis was a harmful, perhaps even deadly drug, reported to cause brain damage, bad decisions and other obscure defects, it’s now becoming common knowledge that the plant is indeed useful for a range of medical applications*.

With the legalization of cannabis we’ve seen a big upswing in growing approaches and extraction techniques, which has caused an evolution of what we know about the plant and what we can do with it. If you’re of age and in the right place, you can of course smoke and use marijuana, where legal, but there are new and fascinating alternatives going mainstream as of late. The latest and perhaps biggest discovery as of late has been the healing power of the CBD compound found in all cannabis. There’s THC, which is the psychoactive molecule produced by the female flowers of the plant, and there’s CBD, among a range of lesser-known cannabinoids that we still have much to learn about.

CBD is the non-psychotropic cannabinoid found in hemp, the male non-flowering part of the plant, which has been found to have inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, as well as sedating, hypnotic, anti-epileptic and anti-dystonic effects, among other healing attributes. CBD does not ‘get you high,’ as they say, but it will relax you, soothe pain, help regulate sleep patterns, control certain cancers, stimulates bone growth, and stops the growth of bacteria, as well as it suppresses muscle spasms and convulsions, slows inflammation, reduces blood sugar levels, reduces the risk of artery obstructions, decreases pressure in the blood vessel walls, helps control epileptic seizures, reduces risk of nerve damage, and eases nausea.

I recently teamed up with Dutch Natural Healing, a Netherlands based CBD company who specializes in CBD oils and concentrates. They maintain a no-nonsense attitude when it comes to their healing CBD products, and since they cultivate their own cannabis plants in their plant nursery before extracting the healing cannabinoids, they are one of the more effective companies who have gained a reputable foothold in the newly emerging CBD market.

They sent me their 800mg CBD oil, their CBD Gold edition which is 2500mg of CBD, and their CBD active+ Pure, which is a remarkable blend in the form of a paste that produces stronger feelings, because it is completely absorbed by the body. Their CBD oil is thick, strong tasting, and effective. The 800mg is good for beginners, and the Gold edition at 2500mg is great for patients who have larger needs, like those who suffer from seizures. After testing their products for awhile, I found that the bottom baseline of my mood had improved, my anxiety had become more manageable, and my stress level had eased. I believe everyone can benefit from CBD, but it may not be necessary for everyone. I like to take about 25mg daily to take the edge off of my anxiety, tension and stress, especially on jam-packed days, and I tend to do another dose of 25-50mg depending on how I’m feeling throughout the day. For example, if I feel the tension of anxiety nipping at my mood, I will take another dose.

Dutch Natural Healing is so proud of the quality of their product that they wanted to pass along their healing effects to my dear readers. SO, if you’re interested in trying CBD, sign up for our giveaway. I will email the winners directly later this summer! Be well.
