There were a few options that could have changed the course of the day, but I ended up choosing to land in the mountain-locked town of Grindelwald. After walking through one end to the other in the town, I found where a suspension rail system takes you up to the top of the Grindelwald First (which means Grindelwald's Ridge). The rail system proceeded through two stops before hitting its final destination at the top. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the entire journey upwards was beyond gorgeous, and honestly breathtaking doesn't even give it justice! From where the rail stopped, I followed a hiking path that wound through the green pastures of the mountainous terrain, where it was obvious that glaciers once held strong, before (perhaps) global warming took effect on the ridge. I leisurely hiked along the path, stopping to take photographs like the one featured above, until when, about two hours later, I found myself in front of an amazing sight of Lake Bachalpsee. The lake was walled in by jutting rocks and green mountains, which some of which were covered in glacier snow that had yet to melt. The amazing thing about the lake was just how visually stunning it was – the lake halted at a drop off chasm that gave the viewer a chance to see the amazing Swiss Alps reflected in the water.
