Gearing Up for My Big Day: featuring Rapid Beard

Growing a full beautiful beard is among a fair many men’s goals in life, but the truth is that it’s not easy. And it can be even more difficult for those of us who have uneven growth patterns. When you’re young, beard growth can be disappointing as best for many, but with enough time and patience, and with the right approach, succeeding at growing a truly righteous beard can be attainable. With my wedding incoming in less than two months, I’ve been hard at work trying to get ahead of the planning, and delegating the never-ending list of to do’s… One thing I can finally tick off is getting my beard in order, and I’ll tell you how I did it.

I’ve always had visions of me living in a cabin deep in the woods, where I would live out my days writing and living among the natural world. I, of course, had a wild, burly beard and probably a bit of a strange wild look in my eye, but hey, as far as I’m concerned a wild look in nature is far better than a broken one in the modern world. I’ve tried and tried at growing a full beard, one that I could be proud of, but the truth is that I’ve been among the many of men who struggled to get it all put together. For the longest time, in my early twenties, I would have a scattered patchy bit of growth that resembled something like a vagrant pirate, but now, being in my early thirties, I’ve had enough time to invest into inspiring enough beard growth to make something of it. Though, I do still have a patch on my cheek that is noticeably thinner, and beyond overall heath, I need that patch to fill in.

But seeing as how my wedding is fast approaching, I knew I had to get on it if I were going to be fabulously (and beautifully) bearded in my wedding photos, so I reached out to Rapid Beard for help. Rapid Beard specializes in beard oil, premium beard balm, and grooming products. Rapid Beard sent me their beard care kit, consisting of their scentless beard oil and balm, beard brush, comb and grooming sheers. Upon initial inspection, I was impressed with the professionalism of the packaging and labels, as well as the quality of the oil and brush.

So, I reworked my approach, reading some helpful resources online about optimal beard health, care and grooming tips, and I began using Rapid Beard’s care kit a few months before the wedding. The regimen I went with is simple, but it works. Wash your beard with a natural soap that doesn’t have all the additives or chemicals, and be sure to space between washes, skipping a day or two in between each wash. Towel dab to dry, leaving it a bit damp, then apply a quality beard oil by squirting some on your palm and rubbing it into your beard. Do massage your face as you work the oil into your beard, as the skin underneath will soak up some of the oils. By doing this, you will notice your beard gaining thickness, because you’re stimulating the hair follicles, and you will be curing the dreaded beard itch. Use a comb to untangle the hairs. Use beard balm to condition the hair and to style it. I prefer the boar hair beard brush as a final styler, and soother, because it feels great when run through my beard, but it also tends to have a better effect on the wilder beard hairs that haven’t been trained enough to sit tight and right.

Rapid Beard’s oil feels soothing on my face, as with immediate application the itchy dryness would ease and last for most of the day. Their beard balm is a leave in part-conditioner and part-wax that comes up very smooth from its container, melting in my palms when I rub them together, which then I apply in the morning after a shower, and sometimes throughout the day, depending on how crazy my beard looks or how dry. They both work really well and are made really high quality. The oil is made up of a minimalist recipe of powerful argan oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E, while the balm has beeswax in it, along with macadamia oil, shea butter, coconut oil, tea tree oil and almond oil.

Rapid Beard’s approach to a healthy and happy beard is 50/50 botanical and grooming, which works well. Their Beard Grooming and Trimming Kit included a wood comb, a brush and scissors, which I employed throughout the process. The wood comb works decently well, though I think it would be more effective on longer beards. The star, at least for me, was their 100% boar bristle beard brush, which had the best results, for both follicle stimulation and style, because it distributes the beard oil while improving texture, shaping, and training of the hair (especially when training the stache). The grooming sheers came in handy as growth began ramping up, because the faster it grows, at least for me, the harder it is to keep it tamed. All in all, I found the beard care products by Rapid Beard to be a great option for jumpstarting young beards as well as bringing aged and dried beards back to life.
