Pretati – 500+ commonly used travel phrases with video
Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, each of the 25 Pretati mobile apps have a collection of over 500 commonly used phrases that an international traveler would need in a foreign country.  Do you ever wish when traveling that you could have a companion at your side at all times who you could ask “How do you say in Thai…?” or someone that could speak the local language for you? Pretati translates and provides you with the exact phrases and words, as you should pronounce them.

The phrases are grouped into categories for every situation including Getting Around, Eating & Drinking, Health, Problems, Numbers, Time and Date, Meeting People, Shopping and Money.  For each phrase, there is a video recorded by a native with phonetic pronunciation and the user has the additional ability to playback each phrase in slow mode, mark as favorite, copy the phrase to send via SMS or email – imagine texting and impressing your new friend in their native language.  While the app is primarily targeted towards travelers, it is also a great tool for those just wanting to speak a foreign language without getting into the technicalities of alphabet and grammar.

There are numerous language / translation apps, however, Pretati is the only app that has video, and all of them recorded by natives, thus making it unique and truly useful.  Users can quickly search for phrases, build their list of favorites and even share the videos with friends.  The app works completely offline thus eliminating the high costs of international data roaming.

Pretati is available for 25 languages including Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Khmer (Cambodian), Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese.

What Brandon thinks about the Pretati Language(s) apps:
I'm no stranger to international travel, and working around the language gap is always a challenging experience. No matter if you're pretty good at deciphering different languages based on their roots, or if you learned a little in college, you will always have some difficulties, when both parties are speaking different languages and dialects. I used to use an offline text translator, which got me out of quite a few sticky and confusing situations, but I had to struggle with the pronunciation, and even the spelling at times. Plus, the apps I used last year in Europe weren't always real spot on when it came to getting the correct translation.

I think Pretati is a fantastic upgrade from what I was once relying on heavily... To have an app that speaks to you in the local language, which has most of what all you will need to say, whether it's ordering food, finding directions, or just to have a conversation with a local is absolutely invaluable.
