Well, it looks as though Visa issues will cause my opportunity in Venice to come to a temporary halt. My employer has yet to work out my Visa details, which means I’ve had to work out a new alternative for my time abroad. So I’ve decided that since my Visitor Visa in the Schengen region of Europe is used up from my latest stint, I’ll continue traveling on. I have to remain conscious of my money supply at the moment, so I haven’t planned real far in advance, just in case I decide to return to the U.S.A. – or better yet, my Visa situation is cleared and I can return to Italy. I’ve been a bit confused the past few weeks, unsure of what to do or where I wanted to go. And after much thought, I wanted to choose a relaxed place to focus on my longhand story writing and other projects – somewhere away from the heavy bustle of loud tourists who seem to never sleep along the stone streets and canals of Venice.
Last year, I visited Ireland, and if you read much of my writings, you know that I absolutely loved my experience there. I still feel quite fondly of Ireland. It’s as though I left my heart there, and must return to become reconnected and to let it grow ever more fond. So I am making my way back again, and I’ve decided to head north a bit from Venice to visit a few places close-by that I’ve yet to see. Before flying from Memmingen, Germany to Dublin, Ireland, I am touring through Innsbruck, Austria > Füssen, Germany > Bregenz, Austria > Liechtenstein > Interlaken, Switzerland and surrounding areas.

Once I’m in Ireland, I am going to take a couple of days off and become reacquainted with Dublin – as I didn’t enjoy Dublin the first time I visited. I’ve connected with a couple of WorkAway opportunities and will spend most of my time in southern Ireland, I believe. In mid-August, I will be managing a hostel for a month, which is something that I’ve sort of always been interested in doing. I will be based in the tiny sea village of Kinsale. Besides my responsibilities that come with each opportunity, I will begin the work on my novelette again, which I started last year while staying in Minnesota, but have since ceased working on.

Wow! Would love to go to Ireland. Headed to Venice in a couple months and would love to ping you for ideas. Hope your Visa stuff works out - sounds stressful. That's the part of life abroad no one ever tells you about.

My Visa situation ended up working out well. The whole process can be a hassle, but it is well worth it. Good luck on your travels in Venice. I would suggest to check out Scuola Grande di San Rocco. It is awesome, and you can capture some great photos.
