Isolation will always change a person; for when you're alone, without interference of artificial obstructions, you have only yourself and your roots. When you come in contact with the life force of earth, which connects plants, animals and humans to the planet, you will see the greater truths that are blind to those who have not connected.
Every human is connected to the organic earth without which we are lost, which may explain a lot of the disconnects and issues we as humans experience, personally and socially. Life is much more than working until you're old, it is not so lifeless and depressing as it feels like at times; humans were not meant to worry about money, jobs, debt, materialism, and power. Humans are meant to live in balance with the earth, but without travel and the chance to actually connect with our natural world, how can we ever appreciate it?
I've tried a lot of different brands over the years, and currently, one of my favorite products available today is by Etymotic. They specialize in a varying range of audible products, not specifically consumer audio. I have had the chance to team up with them and to try out two of their current products, the mk5 Isolator Earphones and the ER•20®XS High-Fidelity Earplugs. As you can see from the images above, they are not your typical earphones for music listening, however the mk5's are pretty good for music – though, if you are hoping for booming bass, this may not be the ideal product for you. I found the mk5's to properly isolate outside noise and distractions nicely, allowing me the ability to achieve the feeling of total isolation, even in areas of the world that are part Nature and partially manmade-influenced. For times when I find myself in either rather loud places, or simply need silence, the ER-20XS's do their job nicely – they provide a solid foundation of isolation, which I've had trouble achieving in the past. You have to fit both of these products into your ear by pulling the top of your ear upward while gently pushing the device into your ear, because if you don't do this right, they can be uncomfortable, ineffective, and may fall out at times.
