One of the big issues I had was eyewear. I went through so many pairs of glasses. I’ve crushed them in my pack more times than I can remember, and I’ve lost them in nearly as many countries as I’ve visited, and I’ve had them fall right off my head and into the Thames. So, why did I doom every one of my pairs of sunglasses on that trip? Because I’m clumsy? Because I’m haphazard? Because I have rough luck? In all honesty, probably a little of all three. But ultimately, I attribute this issue to my lack of proper sunglass wear AND the case that protects them.
Recently, I teamed up with the fine folks over at Rainforest Sunglasses, who offer an array of wooden glasses. The real unique and helpful part of their line is their packaging. Each pair of sunglasses comes with a small wooden box. Okay, I know what you’re thinking… If weight is such a big issue, why would I want to carry a wooden box. Well, because it will save you money. Because this lovely wooden box that Rainforest Sunglasses provides with each pair will indeed protect the sunglasses, therefore greatly lowering how many pairs you need to buy to simply make it through your next nine month stint across the world. The box adds a little weight, but they protect the really cool sunglasses inside, that also provide me the ability to liven up my look. So the next time I take a train into a party town, I will be ready.
I found that Rainforest Sunglasses produce a high quality, yet fashionable styles of sun wear. The craftsmanship is easily apparent and they look quite striking. But as a backpacker, the best part is that the sunglasses weigh almost nothing.
