Music Transforms Mood: featuring Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless Earbuds

Nothing transforms the mood and vibe of a place than when music steers our emotions in certain directions. Blame the movies for their consistent mood setting scores, or maybe you could chalk it up as being just part of the human condition. But when music plays, it casts a feeling that can define the experience for the listener. So when you’re traveling, especially in faraway places, try setting the vibe around you, because it will transform the entire experience like nothing else can.
I remember distinctly how certain places that I’ve visited in my travels made me feel, not only because of the uniqueness or character or culture, but often because I themed the music to go along with what I was interpreting at that time. I’ve been blessed to be able to travel to more than 25 countries over the past decade, and that’s one particular act that I’ve learned that I like to perform when I’m wandering through a new city or along beautiful countryside.

Imagine exploring Paris, France for the first time, and listening to slow, moody, and emotion rich French cafe music with a flirty accordion. The mood is transformed, and beyond the occasional modern technologies of cars and screens, I am brought back a hundred years or more to when Paris was dreamt about as the most romantic town in the world. I remember road tripping around Ireland and listening to traditional Irish pub music and I felt like I had returned to a past generational home of mine. I can never forget the way Venice, Italy felt like magic as I wandered freely through the streets and over the canals listening to traditional Italian folk music. And I’ll always tear up when I hear passionate Flamenco, thinking of my time spent in Granada and Seville.

Music has the power to transform and to take you places, and can set in motion something within you that will never leave you. When I’m traveling like that, I tend to be backpacking, having everything I need to survive strapped to my back, so every ounce and inch matters greatly. So I tend to stay away from large format headphones even though I prefer the isolation and sound quality, and tend to pack small earbuds that don’t take up much space, yet have great sound, because nothing ruins the good vibes of low sound quality.

I recently had the pleasure to work with Sennheiser to test and review their Momentum True Wireless Earbuds, which are exactly the kind of earbuds I’d travel with, because not only are they uber small and easy to take anywhere, but they sound really good. Sleek, modern and small, the Momentum True Wireless are bluetooth 5.0 earpieces that have the ability to play high quality audio wirelessly, take calls and offers access to voice assistance.

The earbuds last about 4 hours with each charge, but are outfitted with a charging case that pushed battery life to 12, so when you’re on the go, you can have music with you whenever you want it each day. I never had a problem with the battery life, often opting to let them charge while I ate or stopped to talk to locals, then at night while sleeping, I let the entire case charge full again. The earbuds connect to an app on your device, allowing you to configure the sound settings like their nifty equalizer, or transparent hearing, which lets you determine how much ambient noise you want to hear. How cool is that?! All in all, I found these earbuds to be up to what I would want out of a pair of earbuds. Sure, earbuds don’t always compare with large over-hear isolation headphones, but for when you’re on the go, these are gold.
