New technologies are always changing and ever evolving, and where some technologies make our life easier, others seem to complicate life. It was once thought that Facebook and cell phones would connect us and enrich our lives, and now it seems to have only done the opposite, splitting us apart, consuming our free time, and changing the way we socialize and interact with the world at large. And then there are other inventions that feel like no-brainers, because they truly do enrich our lives, without causing further negativities on our lifestyles and on our planet.
A company I’ve featured prior, Foxelli, has two such products: Full HD Trail Camera & Dual USB Solar Charger…
Foxelli’s Trail Camera is a beauty at a great price. It’s fully stocked, easy to use, and packed with helpful features. Trail cameras are a great modern invention that allows one to either survey their land like a high tech security system, or to simply watch the wildlife (or hunt, of course, if that’s your thing). Recently, I moved to a lovely plot surrounded in rural Ohio woods, and I’ve employed this trail camera to do just that, watch the wildlife. Near my forest, rumors have long talked of bobcats, deer, and big foot (but that’s another story for another time, and no I don’t believe in Sasquatch LOL). So I installed this trail camera at the edge of the woods, facing inward and along a real nice wild game trail, and the results were amazing.
Not only did I have a chance to see a slew of wild deer, but the camera also caught some wild turkeys, squirrels, groundhogs, and a lost out-of-season hunter. No bobcats yet, however. The best part is that all of the videos are so crisp and clear that it’s easy to find the wildlife. Foxelli’s design is solid, running on 4 or 8-AA batteries, while capturing an awesome 1080p video quality at 14 megapixels. This camera is equipped with a 2.4” LCD color monitor on the inside beside the battery compartment, which lets you preview what you’ve captured, without having to run back to a computer.
Other features include vivid colors during the day and an upgraded night vision which shoots in black and white. The way the trail camera works is that it’s motion activated, so if something moves within 65-feet, it’ll turn on and capture the scene. The night vision works because of its 42 Low Glow IR LEDs. The trigger time also impressed me, shooting off at a 0.5-second trigger time. Once the camera is mounted, it can last up to 8 months in standby mode. The durable IP65 water resistant case is a must have feature for any outdoor camera, obviously. But as far as cool features goes, it’s the data recording that impressed me, as the camera offers time stamping with moon phase, temperature, and has a timer, real-time replay, hybrid mode and an interval recording mode. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the product, especially at the price they have it for at the time of publication (well under $100).

Another cool product from Foxelli is their Dual USB Solar Charger, which is what it sounds like, a solar panel that charges via USB. When you travel like I do, spending a lot of time in wilderness areas, you need a backup battery for your equipment, be it phone, GPS or camera. And you need whatever powering gear to be very lightweight and packable, because when you backpack in the wilderness, every ounce counts.
This solar charger is a great piece, because it’s dependable, convenient and highly portable.
