Ever wear a really nice suit or drive an amazing sports car, and feel like you’re James Bond? Or buy something solely because it reminds you of this one film or movie star? Well, the L-2B Hooded Flight jacket has that sort of effect for me. The fine folks over at Alpha Industries are a clothing brand who doubles as an official contractor, making the classic flight jackets for the U.S. Defense Department.
Alpha Industries doesn’t only specialize in flight jackets for military, but they are certainly known for a certain style. So when I put on the L-2B Hooded Flight jacket for the first time, a sort of strange alter-ego came over me and for a quick second I felt like I was in Top Gun, getting ready to fly by the control center. Putting my personal opinions about war aside, I have to say that this style of jacket is pretty damn cool.
The overall style of Alpha Industries’ L-2B Hooded Flight jacket is slick and of obvious quality make. The fabric and lining are 100% nylon, and the cuff is acrylic, while the collar is a mix of acrylic, polyester and spandex. It is very comfortable and fitting for a jacket, loaded with several features and pockets, and of course, dynamite aesthetics. The left breast is fitted with an Alpha Industries patch, which can be removed to represent whatever you would like; which is where the American flag would naturally go if you are part of the military.
Other features include pocket at elbow length, which comfortably keep your hands away from the elements, and on the insides, there are two inner pockets of about the same size; each closes with a button. The left bicep has the traditional zipper pocket with two thin and long bullet pockets. Beyond the traditional look and feel, and fit of the flight jacket, this edition includes a cotton hood that can be removed at will.

I found the L-2B Hooded Flight jacket to be high quality, stylish, fun and interesting to say the least. It not only represents its military history, but with its colorful flare of bright orange on the inside and gunmetal on the outside, the flight jacket has been reconditioned to fit into the modern world of fashion. I know a lot of men who would find this style right up their alley. And for that, I’m thankful, because the more we all work together to rework the stigmas of our culture, the better we will all be and the closer we all will move toward peace. And if Alpha Industries can expand their thinking, so can we all.
