A proper high quality hiking boot can make all the difference in one’s experience exploring the wild areas of our world, because one wrong move with weak support can leave you stranded and injured, or at the very least, hurting by the end of a middling trek. I’ve featured LOWA’s Sesto GTX Lo All-Terrain shoe prior, and today I’m excited to feature their most popular trekking boot style in the Renegade GTX Mids, which are indeed a fine make. Read further and I’ll breakdown what makes the Renegades so sweet…

LOWA, one of Europe’s best based in Slovakia, is known for crafting some of the finest outdoor footwear on the market, which is a testament to the pride they hold and care they give to their craft. The style of the Renegades look sharp, and are fashionable, coming in a variety of color variations, and since it’s fitted with a very fine and deep Vibram tread, the overall affect is very pleasing to the eye. A heavy duty Gore-Tex lines the construction of the Renegade boot, which gives the user a secure fit with optimum support, with a breathable technology that’s also waterproof.

The multifunction construction of LOWA’s Renegade GTX Mids are slip lasted, injected PU midsole, with a Monowrap frame construction that boasts a very solid underfoot comfort with optimum stability. The mid style ankle offers snug support while giving your ankle enough range of motion to allow for rougher terrain. I often find myself hiking up mountains and over rough terrain, so I particularly found these to feel good, while also offering me a long-lasting pair of boots that can be worn anywhere with comfort.

The upper material of the Renegade trekking boot is a Nubuck leather, which feels smooth and looks classy, offering the user a waterproof feature that will come in handy just about anywhere in the world. As I mentioned earlier, the lining is Gore-Tex, but the quality of material doesn’t stop there, as the insole is an Atc Footbed, the midsole is a double injection DuraPU, the thick support frame is a Monowrap frame, while the sole is a full length stabilizing Vibram Evo sole, offering sure-footed traction that few others can rival. Additionally, a locking ankle hook is fitted on the back of the shoe, and the metal lacing hardware is an easy to use open and closed hook system.

Some hiking shoes can be very heavy and unnecessarily bulky, which takes away from the hiker’s range of movement, ease of use and safety overall… The fine folks over at LOWA have recognized this issue and have designed their Renegade GTX Mid boots with a slimmer profile, sleeker design, and a better overall balance of weight versus longevity. To me, they are a no-brainer for casual hikes in the woods, and the exploration of rougher terrain. I’m a big fan of what LOWA has to offer the more adventurous ones of our species.
