When traveling the world, a quality, yet stylish jacket that can hold you over, through the chilliest of temperatures can be invaluable. Choosing the right jacket can be quite difficulty, especially if you're traveling for a long period of time, and/or touring several countries, which is usually what I do.
Most of my trips thus far in my career abroad have ranged as long as one to nine months. This makes it quite challenging to pack well, because as a professional backpacker, space is very limited. Especially on lengthy trips, it's near impossible to pack the right gear and clothing for all types of climates and seasons, so it's especially important to limit yourself to one solid jacket.
Now, I've traveled from Morocco, through central Europe, to the Highlands of Scotland, before landing in Iceland, all in the same trip – you wouldn't believe the wide-range of clothing that I went through. I found myself in a different countries all of the time, visiting 20 on a single trip, and each had different gear needs, so I was sending packages home every couple of weeks, and purchasing new stuff all of the time. While acquiring new and interesting styles from all different cultures is exciting, it can become quite burdensome, especially on your wallet.
