Review – Victorinox Swiss Army Spectra 2.0

Recently, I teamed up with my friends over at Victorinox Swiss Army, and they sent me one of their Spectra 2.0 wheeled carry-on case in black cherry. My first impression upon unpacking it was that it's ridiculously slick looking – the color is vibrant and the design is smooth, and modern.

While I haven't had a chance to fly with the Spectra 2.0 case, I have been able to haul it with me on camping trips and regional drives. I've stayed grounded for about a year now, living in Colorado and exploring the regional areas, forests, and mountains. But from my experience, I can certainly see this case being pure gold when traveling through airports, all around the world.
The size and design buildout take advantage of the available space, while adhering to majority of the travel carry-on size restrictions. The outside of the case is a sort of flexible thick plastic that adjusts as it comes in contact with other objects and bags. The most interesting aspect of the outer design is the zipper area, as it has a black mesh fabric that stretches and moves with the shell of the case, allowing for stuffing or to simply keep your bag in one piece. The Swiss Army Spectra 2.0 case comes with strong wheels and a popup handle, which I love – hauling your luggage on your back and shoulders can definitely become a burden when traveling abroad. Trust me, I've learned the hard way in the past.
Inside, a wide opening with a buckle for clothing allows for enough clothes for up to a week, if you fold and roll them right. The alternative side has a zipping mesh providing a safe area for your valuables, electronics, and even your toiletries.

With all reviews, I try hard to remain objective and to consider the product from the perspectives of different people with differing travel styles, and so with that in mind, I found that I had to dig a little deeper and think a little harder to find something that I felt was wrong or that could be better with the Spectra 2.0. Because, to be honest, this is a very solid case, built strong, sleek and modern looking, and will last you years, if not decades of travel.
My only criticism has to be the price. Victorinox makes some of the best travel and leisure products in the world, but they also charge a premium for them. This bag retails at $299.99, and for some, that may very well be a bargain, but if you're a new traveler or if money is tight, it might be best to purchase a cheapy bag for your first trip, then save up in the future for a carry-on like this. Because in reality, it's a bad ass bag, made to last... I'm a big fan of it, looking forward to traveling all over the world with this bag by my side.
