There is a lot of variety when it comes to luxury travel, like high end getaways, private expeditions, luxury cruises, even glamping (glamorous camping), and so much more. You can buy gear that makes roughing it so much easier, like with popup tents and showers, and tent heaters, and beyond. But one of my favorite luxury gear items is also one of the most affordable, and most comfortable, and that is a quality hammock.
Hammocks are basically suspended beds of fabric or canvas, but there’s something so relaxing about taking it easy in the shade on a sunny day, simply hanging and swaying with the wind. Hammocks are indeed a luxury item, but for people like me, who typically either backpack or rough it by trekking out into the wilderness and camping, they can be the perfect way to lighten the toll costed of me by a physically grueling expedition. They can be dangerous, because the risk of falling is real. If you happen to fail at tying a proper knot, or making it level, or by simply forgetting to clear the area below the hammock, you can befall injury, or maybe just a sore bum. But truth be told, hammocks are a whole lot of fun; there’s simply nothing like a napping in one.
Today, I wanted to feature a perhaps lesser known brand, but a very good hammock and adventure travel gear producer: Winner Outfitters. The Adventure Travel Hammock by Winner Outfitters is a high quality, almost silk-like hammock that requires a smart and strong knot to ensure quality hang time and proper safety. Because if you happen to tie your knot wrong, you will be on the ground. Also, a few other points: Always be sure your hammock is level (I learned this the hard way once some years ago) and mounted securely so your ropes don’t move once you hop on, and always test the hammock by keeping your feet on the ground and your hands locked onto the front edge, then sit first before slowly pivoting your weight back. I had no trouble setting her up and within minutes, I was suspended and enjoying the cool breeze in the shade of a large oak. One of the cool features of this particular hammock is its stored position, because as a backpacker, where weight and size of gear is very important, Winner Outfitters designed their Hammock to close into itself so no extra bags are required. The bag that the hammock fits into is small at about 12”x6” and is attached to the hammock, so when it’s open and suspended, it acts as a pocket or pouch to store your belongings in. I think Winner Outfitters created a great hammock, that I will enjoy using for years to come.
