The Sticky Stone GTX shoe is fit with a wraparound Vibram Megagrip outsole that provides optimum grip, and an Anatomically Directed Design that provides for a comfortable, yet secure fit which is perhaps just as important as a strong grip. Uncomfortable shoes can cause havoc in the wilderness, especially for a lesser experiences traveler, by possibly causing rubbing and open sores, among other issues like dampness. The Sticky Stone GTX was made for trickier, technical terrains that are better known for causing injuries, falls and mistakes, but with this style shoe, you gain the ability to do low grade climbing and training, as well as scrambling and bouldering with a great security.
The upper portion of the shoe is made of a 1.5mm water repellent suede and engineered mesh that offers a more forgiving fit that proves to be ergonomically solid. The PU footbed offers moisture and odor management properties, while the overall design is durable and semi-form fitting. The fit is an Alpine fit, which gives the user a more wrapped fit with a roomier toe box that keeps the foot snug with enough room to move around and be comfortable, without sacrificing precision during use. A Double Damper two-part system offers a nice shock absorbent technology, while the midsole eases ground impact and an internal layer dampens heel impact.
All in all, I found the Sticky Stone GTX trail shoe as being a fantastic option for newbie and more technical explorers, as it’s a versatile shoe that marries comfort and security with versatility and precision. The fit is snug but not painful, due to the multi-layered cushioning inside that helps with foot fatigue and new shoe transitioning. The grip is the best feature, because of its varied tread pattern and thickness. I really like the design and fashionability of the shoe, as its stylish look is good for everyday use.
