This is just the right time to get a chance to appreciate the continent more intimately, as the temperatures are moderate and the cities steam with life. The best time of scenic cross-country train rides

It is time for festivals in Europe

In as much as you can experience such when you travel to any country at any time of the year, if you are interested in knowing more about Europe and its cultures, then the best time to travel is during autumn, as this is literally a season of festival galore. You can head over to Italy for some sweet and delicious treats during the Perugia Eurochocolate Festival, for a chance to sample some of Europe’s finest chocolates. During this time, the streets of Perugia are full of stalls hawking all manner of wares, with the most notable activity being the chocolate festival as well as cooking and tasting lessons. The best part of it is that you won’t have to spend a dime since everything is free.

It is time for the wine
If you know anything about wines, then you know that grapes are harvested in autumn and this is very enticing for every wine lover. Europe is known to be one of the best wine producing regions in the world and if you wanted to have a great wine sampling and tasting experience, then autumn is the right time for you to travel. For a great wine experience, you should consider heading to southern Italy or France for some of the best wine samples in the world.

Truffles are in season in Piedmont, Italy
If you are a fine dinner, then you already understand that truffle constitutes some of the world's most expensive dishes and it would be very interesting for you if you could find them in plenty and at affordable rates. Well, that is what happens when you visit Europe in autumn, and specifically head over to Piedmont in Italy. This revered delicacy will be in season and it will be a great time of have lots of them since they will be available in almost every restaurant.

It is the best time to visit Croatia
As usual, Croatia is one of the leading tourist destinations in Europe, and if you happen to visit during summer, then you could get overwhelmed by the crowds in the major tourist attraction. But if you want to get the most out of it without having a lot of run-ins with the crowds, then you should plan your Croatia visit during autumn. The crowds are already gone, and the weather is still very warm. Whether you want to visit the plethora of attractions or simply get into your swimsuit and enjoy the magnificent beaches, you are guaranteed to have an experience of a lifetime during autumn.

The best time to see the Northern Lights
The Northern Lights are a great attraction in Europe and though you could watch them at any time of the year, autumn remains the best time to enjoy the magnificent aurora borealis. You can decide to see them from Norway or Iceland. The temperatures will not be as warm as it is towards the south, but you will still get a great experience in enjoying this awesome phenomenon. ​
