The best memories are those shared between loved ones. It’s not the gifts you buy, but the time spent together. And no time spent together is wasted when memories are made. And no memories are as strong as when new experiences are shared between two or more. For me, the one whom people in my family call the man who has everything, I want more than anything to feel something shared between my loved ones and myself, and there’s no better way to do that than to change where you are and what you’re doing, and to get out of the everyday funk of routine.
So plan them a trip if you can afford it, and be sure to add an extra seat beside them, so you can join together in this special occasion. Or if that’s out of the question, plan a day trip, a camping trip in a nearby patch of forest, or simply sow the seed of this idea with something that may inspire a new beginning and a new experience for them. This year, I implore you to choose happiness above all, to choose to smile, no matter what relatives you’re stuck around and would prefer to not be, and to always try and create memories that are worth remembering. And if a big trip is not possible, sow the seed of better days spent abroad.
My goto this season is a safari hat, because even though some people I love most have all they could ever want, they could always use life experiences to help build their memory bank and to expand their mind. My particular favorite this year is the Tullamore by Stetson of Tenth Street Hats…
The Tullamore is a genuine leather hat in the traditional safari style, but Stetson designed this hat to inspire journeys worth living present in the moment, and remembering forever. As they say, “Whether traipsing through the forest or traveling across vast festival ground, your new leather safari hat will make your journey something to remember.” The Tullamore is made of genuine leather with a perforated suede crown, 2 3/8” bound brim, and is fitted with a cotton sweatband.
