What makes a home office your special creative space? Reviewing the Vornado VFAN Petite Alchemy

I’ve been blessed to be able to work at home for the past seven years, and abroad of course, and have come to understand that the dynamics of a creative workspace can, but not absolutely, affect the creative process. For me, I went from working in bed with a laptop on my lap and a pillow behind my head, simply because I could, to now, where I have completed my special creative space, or office. This space keeps me in solitude, of sorts, far away from my everyday life and the problems that always seem to crop up, and now, I enjoy spending my alone time locked away behind closed doors. Why? Because I’ve made it my own space, with my own things, decorated in my own way, so that it provides me with the optimum experience, away from the distractions, yet comfortable enough to spend whole days inside if need be.

The secret to a personal creative space, which helps rather than hinder creativity, is to simplify the gadgets and to remove all distractions. If you have a project you’ve been meaning to get to, that has nothing to do with your creative work, then don’t have remnants of it sitting around on or near your desk, because it will help you none, and only provide you with a constant reminder every time you look over, and that’s no good. For me, personally, I started with the basic furniture, a bookcase, a computer, a large monitor, and headphones, then my notes and reminders and motivational messages were plastered upon the walls on my sides, so they do not distract me as I write. Then, I began filling the room with books and oddities that either pertain to my work, or are simply things that I enjoy.

When I’m writing, I like to black out the windows, turn off the lights, and write with a nice sounding pair of headphones on. Not only does this take away all distractions, but it puts me in a place of total focus. So, after hours of sitting in my old rickety executive chair, I decided it was time for a change. My comfort within the room had began to ebb, and so, I went out and found a new chair, and a few other items that allowed me to write for hours on end without issue… A new tapestry for the wall, a fan to keep it cool, and a few books to help aid me in my times of writer’s block. Each person’s method and needs will differ, but there’s no denying that making your creative space as comfortable as possible, so that the fewest possibilities of distraction and discomfort happen, is important.

I know it may sound basic, but one of my favorite creature comfort purchases recently was the amazing VFAN Petite Alchemy by Vornado. I don’t know why, but I’ve always struggled with staying cool, especially in the summer. No matter how heavy the air conditioning is on, I seem to always run our of steam when I’m writing if I’m overly warm. As I said early, it’s all up to you as far as preferences, so if you discover something is stemming your creative production, find a solution. Mine was simple.

Vornado is a well known company who produce some of the most powerful, sleek and wonderful personal and home office fans on the market. Not only do they look awesome, they produce better and last longer than most brands with similar models. Why is that? I’m not entirely sure, beyond that they value the quality of their craftsmanship and have retained these high standards for more than seventy years.

The VFAN Petite Alchemy is a classy, modern fan with an eye catching look inspired by a 1920s aircraft. Not only is it beautiful, but it works great. The VFAN Petite is small yet powerful, as it is built to provide an entire room with its breezy circulation. I’ve used fans in my office prior, and I seemed to always run into the issue of dry eyes, but not with this design. I simply point it to the top corner of my office and I’m good to begin my session.

Vornado’s VFAN Petite Alchemy is made of metal, unlike those basic, cheap plastic models sold in most department stores, which is something that was important to me. I wanted something that would last. The VFAN Petite has a multi-directional airflow feature and is capable of moving air up to 50-feet, and incorporates a 3-speed control. All in all, I found the VFAN Petite Alchemy to be the ultimate home office fan, not only for its looks, but for how well its built and how dynamite it works. I’m a big fan now.
